My path and my perspective

Lowest point and turning point

My path towards keynotes, workshops and coaching did not begin with a career plan, but with a crisis.

As a teenager, I suffered from severe panic attacks. At the age of nineteen, I reached a point where I almost gave up everything.

But I did not let go. The decision to continue became the beginning of a long journey from survival towards conscious shaping.

Professional background

Bjorn Kiggen im beruflichen Kontext als international erfahrener Trainer und Coach

Alongside my personal development, I built an international career within the headquarters of global corporations, including Airbus, Hapag-Lloyd and Jungheinrich.

Since 2023, I have had the opportunity at Jungheinrich to design and deliver keynotes and workshops on mental health and resilience for diverse audiences, both in Germany and internationally. This combination of business expertise and mental health competence is what defines my work. I know the reality of organisations from the inside and bring this understanding into my keynotes, workshops and coaching.

As a certified trainer, change manager, systemic coach and nature resilience trainer, I combine well-founded methods with real-life experience. My approach is practical, solution-oriented and consistently focused on sustainable impact.

Family

What matters even more to me than my professional path is my private life.

I am the father of two sons. Since the end of 2022, I have been living separately from their mother. We continue to share a very good and respectful relationship and consciously see ourselves as a parenting team. The children spend half of their time with me.

This experience has shaped me deeply. Separation does not mean the end of family, but a new form of it. It calls for clarity, communication, self reflection and a willingness to take responsibility. These are precisely the themes I encounter repeatedly in my work with men and fathers who find themselves in similar phases of transition.

For me, my family is living proof that stability, closeness and a fulfilling life are possible even after profound change. Not despite the challenges, but through a conscious and responsible way of dealing with them.

My book

In 2020, I made my story public for the first time with my book De jongen met goedkope loopschoenen”. In it, I describe my journey through anxiety, overwhelm and panic towards greater stability and self confidence.

The book remained in the top 20 of the best-selling psychology books in Belgium for several months. Today, it is available in around 135 libraries in Flanders and in more than 40 libraries in the Netherlands. It has also been translated into several languages, including German, English, French and Spanish.

What I originally saw as a personal conclusion gradually became a new beginning. The response showed me how many people recognised themselves in these experiences. From 2022 onwards, this led to the first invitations to give keynotes and workshops.

Since 2025, audio versions of the book have also been available in Dutch, German, English and French. This makes the story accessible to people who prefer listening to reading.

Trainer

Alongside my work in the field of mental health, I am active as a trainer and concept developer for train the trainer programmes. In collaboration with Carsten Deters & Partner, I develop and support practice-oriented training concepts that focus on quality, clarity and sustainable learning processes. This work is not about quick methods, but about solid craftsmanship, sound didactics and the ability to pass on knowledge effectively.
